It costs A LOT more to shop last minute than to have a stock pile of items on hand and ready to use.
Something you need to know about MAC stores
Did you know there's a difference between the stand alone MAC makeup stores and the stores that are in The Bay?  Well, I discovered this little tidbit when I got hooked on MAC about 5 years ago and it's time to impart this knowledge to the world...

If you book a makeover in the stand-alone store, it costs $55 (last time I checked) and they give you a free mascara with the booking.  They consider the stores a superior, more personal service than the stores within the Bay makeup department.  Here's the difference: when you book a makeover at the MAC in the bay, it's FREE as long as you buy $55 worth of product.  I do this a couple of times a year to get new colors and have the makeup artist show me how to use them first.  Both stores have talented makeup artists that go through the exact same rigorous training processes.  So, book your makeover on the day of your holiday party, look fabulous and get some great product at the same time :)

Moving Can Be Expensive- Save on New Furnishings
When I moved into my home, I needed just about everything. Regardless of whether or not you're moving into your first home or your 5th, odds are you'll need some tpe of furniture or furnishings for your new place.  Here's how to get what you need at a fraction of the cost: auctions!!  I had NO IDEA you could get new things at auctions.  I thought they were all old, used, dusty things that other people didn't want.  I started going to Kastner Auctions in Edmonton as I found out that they clearout furniture from some major chains in the city.  I bought brand new couches (tags on), a kitchen table and chairs (in the box, I had to assemble it), a swing for my front porch, lamps, and many other odds and ends.  I furnished the whole house for the price of buying one couch set from a furniture store.  I felt even better when I found my kitchen table and chairs in another store flyer a few weeks later for $550 more than I paid... score!

Anyway, there are a few auction houses in the city but I really like kastner, check them out at www.kauctions.com

Sat. November 26- What a Fantastic Christmas Activity
We have gone on the Strathcona County 'Christmas in the Heartland' tour for two years now, this will be the third.  For $20 your family can get on a bus, spend a couple hours touring small community craft fairs, see a display of hundreds of nativity scenes, go on a sleigh ride, enjoy a chili dinner, and watch a tree light up to kickoff the holidays!  What a deal!  I can't say enough about this great activity.  If you want to drive yourself instead of taking the bus, all of the activities are completely free!!!  Check out the details at here: Christmas in the Heartland
